France,United States : SEAGATE agrees to acquire 64.5% in LACIE

Seagate announced that it has inked a deal worth EUR 146 million to buy 64.5% of French IT storage specialisty LaCie from its founder and CEO, Philippe Spruch.
Seagate is offering EUR 4.05 a share, a 29% premium on the share price in the last 30 days.
Seagate will open the offer the all outstanding shares, after receiving regulatory approval for the operator.
LaCie has no single shareholder with greater than 5% ownership.
With this acquisition, Seagate\'s product portfolio will be expanded, especially in the consumer and SME markets and will enable the company to boost it rollout in Europe as well as Japan where LaCie generates a quarter of its revenues.
It is estimated that Seagate will maintain the LaCie brand and to keep its 170 employees in France.
