Canada : CANADA highway contract awarded to FERROVIAL and SNC-LAVALIN

Through subsidiary Cintra Infraestructuras, Spanish contractor Ferrovial, in consortium with Canada\'s SNC-Lavalin has bagged a contract to design, build, finance and maintain the first phase of the Highway 407 East project, in Ontario, Canada. The contract is worth CAD$ 1 billion.
Phase one of the project is for the construction of 22 km of highway from Brock Road in Pickering, Ontario to Harmony Road in Oshawa, Ontario and even features a 10 km north-south highway to connect Highway 407 East to Highway 401.
The design and build work would take around three and a half years.
Upon completion, the Partnership will maintain and rehabilitate the road for a period of 30 years.
