India,Russian Federation : HAL inks a tripartite general contract with Russia
Publish Date : 30-May-2012
A tripartite general contract has been inked by the Indian state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to design and develop the multirole Transport Aircraft in India.
The company has informed that the contract has been inked with United Aircraft Corporation and Multirole Transport Aircraft Limited of Russia in Bangalore.
As per the contract, HAL will design and develop multirole transport aircraft as part of a collaboration with the Russian partners.
This comes after an inter-governmental agreement that has been previously signed between India and Russia to jointly design, develop and produce Multirole aircraft on a 50:50 share basis.
The aircraft can be used for cargo and troop transportation and airdrop of supplies.
The project will provide self-reliance to India, in the making of aircrafts of this size, once it reaches completion successfully.
