Czech Republic: All 3 Bidders Progress In Nuclear Expansion Tender

Czech Power Company CEZ AS (BAACEZ.PR) said that all the three companies that made non-binding offers to build new nuclear generators for the utility have progressed to the next round of the tender. France\'s Areva SA (CEI.FR), Westinghouse Electric Co. LLC, owned by Japan\'s Toshiba Corp. (6502.TO), and Russia\'s Atomstroyexport submitted bids in CEZ\'s tender to build five nuclear reactors in Europe and possibly in Turkey.
All suppliers who submitted bids to participated in the competition for the contract (to expand the nuclear fleet) fulfilled qualifying requirements, the company\'s spokesman said. Analysts estimate that the tender could be worth as much as $30 billion, but CEZ has declined to comment on the total price. CEZ in coming weeks should provide details on further steps and a timeline for the tender.
