United States : LEWIS and CLARK water project needs funding
Publish Date : 27-Jun-2012
As per the reports, Federal funding for the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System has continued to be gutted. The remaining federal cost for construction on the water project has increased more than $6 Million since last year and the balance now exceeds $200 Million. As a result of inflation as well as supply and demand costs, this project needs $2.6 Million for completion, which is $6.5 Million up from last year.
Larson said, “Such a disservice, not only to the members, but to the taxpayers. The price tag keeps going up for them under the guise of saving money. This is nothing fancy here, we\'re not talking about a museum, a stadium, a ball park, nothing like that. This is drinking water and if our Nation, if we can\'t afford our priorities like drinking water, what can we afford. We continue to call on Congress and the administration to work together and find a solution here. This is one of t those rare instances that this project is a top priority, this project has no opposition.â€
