China : BOMBARDIER concludes technology licence agreement with CSR PUZHEN

Bombardier Transportation on July 5 announced the completion of a technology licence agreement with the CSR Puzhen subsidiary of China South Locomotive & Rolling Stock Corp. According to the agreement, Bombardier will give a 10-year licence to CSR Puzhen to make use of its technology to make and sell Flexity 2 100% low-floor trams in China.
The deal comprises preparation and delivery of documentation for a local variant of the Flexity 2. It moreover offers for extensive training for CSR Puzhen workers, comprising support in the adaptation of technical documents. But, Bombardier stated it did not plan to make any cars in China itself.
On June 29, Siemens announced that it had moreover inked a technology transfer agreement with China South Corp including its Combino Plus low-floor tram design. According to a spokesman, the agreement would enable the two companies to develop products locally ‘should a significant market for low-floor trams emerge’.
