United States : Dirt is moving - TDS® begins construction on 3 ARRA broadband stimulus projects in Wis.

According to TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®), construction got underway on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus projects near Monroe, Neillsville, and Medford, Wis. As a result, more customers will have access to high-speed Internet services.

In the Monroe area {TDS’ UTELCO, LLC}, TDS has hired InterCon Energy Services out of Waunakee, Wis. to do the outside construction work. The project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2013. At that time, high speed Internet services should be available to nearly 850 customers in the area.

In the Medford area {TDS’ Midway Telephone Company, LLC}, TDS has hired Michels Corporation based in Brownsville, Wis. to do the outside construction work. The project is scheduled to be done by fall 2013. At that time, high speed Internet services should be available to nearly 1,200 customers in the area.

In the Neillsville area {TDS’ Badger Telecom, LLC}, Michels Corporation has also been hired to do the outside construction work. The project is scheduled to be finished in the summer of 2013. At that time, high speed Internet services should be available to nearly 870 customers in the area.

TDS is receiving funding for the project from the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Utilities Service (RUS) as part of the ARRA.
