Provider of smart grid and clean energy technologies Nexant Inc has announced that it has been chosen by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to lead the agency\'s Partnership to Advance Clean Energy Deployment (PACE-D) project in India.

Under PACE-D\'s five-year project, Nexant\'s team of Indian and U.S. clean energy specialists will cooperate with USAID and government of India counterparts to scale up and deploy innovative energy efficiency and smart grid technologies and practices; advance commercial, market-driven renewable energy technologies; support supply-side efficiency from clean coal power generation; and enhance greenhouse gas mitigation programs.

The project platform will allow public and private stakeholders to develop, test, ratify and commercialize innovative technologies.
Nexant says the project will also help U.S. and Indian clean energy developmental partners to overcome common business blocks and hurdles to deliver environmental and socio-economic benefits from clean energy deployment.

Dick Edwards, Nexant vice president and PACE-D officer-in-charge, stated : \"We will pursue a consultative approach to building stakeholder capacity, engaging the private sector and establishing an enabling ecosystem to scale up clean energy deployment in India\".

He added : \"We also plan to work closely with USAID to coordinate additional U.S. government interagency resources that may benefit the overall PACE-D effort.\"

Under the Chief of Party Sanjay Dube, Nexant\'s PACE-D team will work from its base in New Delhi.
