Publish Date : 28-Aug-2012
The US Department of Defense (DOD) has announced the awarding of another multimillion-dollar infrastructural contract for a new helicopter brigade at Fort Carson.
The Pentagon has informed that Loyd Contracting of Titusville, Fla., has secured an $18.2 million contract for roads, sidewalks and parking along with electrical, communications, gas, water and wastewater systems.
There will be upto 2,700 soldiers and 113 helicopters in the 13th Combat Aviation Brigade, which will supplement the 4th Infantry Division based at the post outside Colorado Springs.
The Pentagon has now announced contracts valued around $74 million in building work for the brigade since mid-August. Earlier contracts were worth $44.8 million for an aircraft hangar and $10.9 million for an aviation control tower.
All the building work to accommodate the brigade may take four years and cost a sum of around $730 million.
