Amec and Foster Wheeler are winners of consultancy contracts for both Kuwait\'s $14.2bn Al-Zour refinery as well as its $16.3bn clean fuel project.
The contracts are worth around 2% of each of their total budgets.
The al-Zour project has been planned to process 615,000 barrels of oil daily once it comes online in 2018, exceeding the capacity of Saudi Arabia\'s 550,000 barrel per day Ras Tanura plant, which is presently the largest in the Gulf region.
The clean fuel project aims to upgrade and boost the capacity at two out of three of the existing facilities of Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC).
Besides the UK\'s AMEC and the US-based Foster Wheeler, the other firms in the final selection were the US Fluor Corp, Australia’s Worley Parsons and France’s Technip.
