Tunisia\'s Ministry of Equipment has launched a global tender for a project to build 12 thousand social housing units, during PHASE I of the social housing programme (20 thousand ready-made homes).
The Ministry has informed that there are four parts in this phase.
Hence, 3,300 homes will be built in the Governorates of Tunis, Ariana, Ben Arous and Manouba and 3,800 others will cover the Governorates of Nabeul, Zaghouan, Bizerte, Sousse, Monastir and Mahdia.
This programme also provides for the work to build 2,400 housing units in the Governorates of Beja, Jendouba, Kef, Siliana, Kairouan, Kasserine and Sidi Bouzid while 2,300 other residential units will come up in the Governorates of Gabes, Medenine, Tataouine, Gafsa, Tozeur, Sfax and Kebili.
Bids are welcome from all Tunisian and foreign promoters and public works firms, in return of provisional bank guarantees in exchangeable currency whose value varies between 1 million dinars and 800 thousand dinars.
The tender is included in the programme defined by the Government and the supplementary budget law of this year.
The programme envisages the construction of social housing units in all the governorates for families who do not have access to proper housing and whose gross monthly earning does not exceed 3 times the SMIG (guaranteed minimum industrial wage).
