United States : $16.8M Army contract for XM25 rifle awarded to ALLIANT TECHSYSTEMS
Publish Date : 15-Sep-2012
On Wednesday, Alliant Techsystems Inc. has announced that it has received a $16.8 million Army contract to continue developing the XM25 rifle which is being considered by the military to be a \"game-changing\" weapon.
An air burst grenade launcher, the XM25 fires 25mm grenades which are set to explode in mid-air at or near the target.
For last many years, ATK has been working on the XM25 with the Army. Last year the company had won a $66 million contract for the rifle.
Earlier, ATK was based in Eden Prairie and last year shifted its headquarters staff to Arlington, Va.
