United States : New 3,300-room project on Cotai Strip: Sheldon Adelson

Publish Date : 21-Sep-2012

Las Vegas Sands chairman and chief executive Sheldon Adelson today announced plans to build a new 3,300-room project called \"The Parisian\" on the Cotai Strip that\'s modelled on the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Speaking at the grand opening of the 3,896-room Sheraton Macao (the largest Starwood property in the world and Macao\'s largest hotel) at the Sands Cotai Central today, Mr Adelson announced his next full-sized project, The Parisian, which is estimated to cost about US$2.5 billion to US$3 billion.

\"It\'s a must-see project, as is the Sheraton in Cotai Central, the Venetian, and our other properties, Sands and Four Seasons,\" Mr Adelson said today at the opening of phase two of the Sands Cotai Central, which includes the first of two hotel towers of the Sheraton Macao. The second tower will open in early 2013.

\"It will be half, a 50 per cent scale of the Eiffel Tower in the front. There\'s another one in Las Vegas, which sits on the Strip. But this will be a little different, because all four legs (of the tower) will be outside on a standalone basis, and none of them will go through the building. So you\'ll be able to see with great clarity, a duplicate of the Eiffel Tower. You would think when you see the design that it\'s smack in the middle of Paris,\" he said.
