The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $3.8 million contract to Cycle Construction of New Orleans for a Mississippi River levee expansion project in the Carrollton area.
The project features levees in Audubon Park\'s Riverview, highly called as “the Fly.†The Riverview comprising of baseball and soccer fields, would remain open. However, during construction phase a nearby unofficial dog park and the bike path along the levee will remain closed.
Cycle Construction is scheduled to commence work during next work near the Jefferson Parish line and move downriver toward the Corps of Engineers’ New Orleans District headquarters on the riverfront.
Construction work near the Fly is expected to commence not earlier then next year.
