Germany\'s finance minister will discuss a revision of his country\'s tax treaty with Singapore during a forthcoming trip to Asia, a spokesman said Monday, as Berlin bids to clamp down on tax evasion.

Redrafting the deal \"is part of our global strategy in the fight against tax evasion,\" a spokesman for Wolfgang Schaeuble told a regular government news conference.

According to reports in the German media, the aim is to reach agreement with Singapore for better exchange of information in line with the latest Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) standards.

Mr Schaeuble will discuss the topic with officials in Singapore on Sunday.
