India : HAZARIBAUG approves Rs.373 lakh for irrigation projects
Publish Date : 18-Oct-2012
The government of Hazaribaug has agreed to provide Rs 373 lakh for the work to build 15 medium and minor irrigation projects to augment irrigation facilities in the district.
According to Hazaribaug DC Manish Ranjan, a shortage of irrigation facilities was very badly felt in Hazaribag this year as the district saw a deficit of 32 % against the normal and average rainfall. Thus, he stressed the need to boost irrigation coverage due to erratic and inadequate rainfall during the monsoon.
Ranjan said out of the approved 15 irrigation projects many of them include raising the depth of \'ahar\' and reservoirs as per the demands made by the area chiefs so that the water can be preserved to achieve production target.
