United States : $22.5 million NAVY ship contract for RAYTHEON

Navy awarded a $22.5 million contract to Raytheon for the Ship Self-Defense System, an anti-ship cruise missile technology on carriers and amphibious ships, said the defense contractor.

The system aims at integrating sensors and weapon systems for providing a response to missile threats.

As per the deal, Raytheon, will be responsible to continue developing and testing the system and providing support to units that use it.

The Navy has also announced its plans for raising the existing contract ceiling for systems engineering by $50 million to extend services and support for the platform through fiscal 2013.
