China Airlines, Taiwan’s largest airline firm recently revealed it plans to join forces with GE Aviation, a subsidiary of General Electric Company, to develop the airline’s fuel efficiency following the unstable nature of fuel prices.
According to the carrier, the five-year joint venture is intended for reducing annual fuel consumption by an average of 2 to 3 percent, which will help save nearly US$10 million.
According to the deal, GE’s Fuel Carbon Solutions team will make use of proprietary decision software as well as fuel consulting expertise to assist China Airlines assess the effectiveness of its current operational policies, make adjustments and validate fuel savings in the long run, according to him.
