United States : HHC offers contracts worth $54.2

Publish Date : 11-Dec-2012

The Hawaii Health Connector (HHC) has offered two separate contracts, worth a total of $54.2. One of these is to build the online marketplace for the state-based health insurance exchange while the second is for public relations services.

By signing Act 205, Gov. Neil Abercrombie made the HHC the state\'s health insurance exchange pursuant to the Affordable Care Act. An important aspect of this function is the development of information technology (IT) systems required to implement the ACA\'s goals of improving the accessibility of health insurance to individuals and qualifying small businesses.

A $53 million, four-year deal to build and maintain the online marketplace and related financial and plan management systems has been offered to CGI Technologies and Solutions, Inc. (CGI) of Fairfax, Virg.

The second contract worth $1.2 million for communication services was offered to Honolulu-based Milici Valenti Ng Pack, Inc. (MVNP).

Coral Andrews, HHC\'s executive director, said : \'This is an exciting next step in the establishment of the health insurance exchange in Hawaii. Our new partners will not only help us to build a system that will make health insurance more transparent and available in Hawaii, they will also help us to get the word out about the key benefits of the system to Hawaii residents and businesses.\'
