The African Development Bank (AfDB) has sanctioned nearly US$21 million in funds facilitating the implementation of the Zanzibar Urban Water and Sanitation Project.
The bank released a statement in Dar es Salaam stating that the government is to contribute 10 per cent of the project costs.
Implementation of the project would be carried out from 2013 in the Unguja municipality.
Completion of the project is expected after around four years.
Once completed it will help in improving the water supply and sanitation infrastructure in the municipality as well as would contribute towards the countrys socio-economic development.
