On Thursday a contract was signed between the Bank of China and Portuguese power company Energias de Portugal (EDP) with which the firm will receive an 800 million-euro loan from the Bank.

Nuno Alves, the chief financial officer (CCFO) of EDP and Huang Hong, the managing director of the Bank of China in Luxembourg signed the loan documents in Lisbon.

CFO of EDP stated that in January 2014 a second Chinese loan of 1 billion euros was due to be received by the firm.

EDP had received another 1 billion euro loan from the China Development Bank during last July.
