India : RELIANCE POWER synchronizes second 300-MW unit of BUTIBORI thermal power project
Publish Date : 03-Jan-2013
On Wednesday, Reliance Power brought into line the second 300-MW unit of its Butibori thermal power project close to Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Electricity from the plant will be allocated among industrial customers and distribution units and help reduce the delivery gap in the state.
In August 2012, the first 300-MW unit had achieved full load. The complete 600 MW of the project will be offered from the plant with the launch of the second unit.
Chief eXecutive officer J.P. Chalasani said: \"With this, our operating capacity goes up to 1,840 MW. We are continuing to create benchmarks in building and operating large-scale power projects. Reliance Power\'s flagship project in Sasan is also progressing at a rapid pace and we expect to commission the first 660 MW unit of the Ultra Mega Power Project in the near future.â€
