Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry has signed a RMB2.5bn shipbuilding deal with Beijing government for nine marine surveillance vessels.

Basically, the deal features five 3,000 ton vessels and four 5,000 ton vessels. Its construction will be carried out as per the existing “China Marine Surveillance 50” and “China Marine Surveillance 01” designs respectively.

Use of the vessels will be for marine surveillance in China’s jurisdictional waters as well as the disputed Diaoyu island region.
