Antigua and Barbuda : DIGICEL supports GATE project

As per the reports, Chairman and founder of the Irish-based telecommunications company, Digicel, has supported an initiative by the Antigua and Barbuda government to implement the Government Assisted Technology Endeavour (GATE) programme. Potentially Antigua and Barbuda can become an IT (information technology) hub and it can be the first real holistic sense of an information society in the Caribbean.
Under the e-Education computer tablets and e-Education connectivity component of the GATE project, students in Antigua and Barbuda will benefit from the 4G LTE technology. The first phase of the e-Education computer tablets and e-Education connectivity programme was launched last week with 90 fifth form students from several secondary schools receiving tablets with high speed internet service.
The Digicel and GATE project raises the standard of education in Antigua and Barbuda. Congratulations to the Government for such a ground breaking project, which sees it blazing an educational trail in the Caribbean.
