Spain’s ACCIONA will be designing, constructing and operating the expansion of the Fujairah desalination plant in the UAE, under a contract worth US $200 million, awarded by Emirates Sembcorp Water & Power Co.
The project is for adding 137,000m3/day capacity. Completion of work will take around 28 months.
Deal was awarded to ACCIONA a consortium featuring ACCIONA Agua with 75% holdings and ACCIONA Infrastructure with 25%. For consortium, this is the first desalination contract within the UAE.
Upon completion of the expansion, the facility will have a total capacity of 592,000m3/day, serving a population of nearly 600,000.
