Publish Date : 05-Feb-2013
The globe\'s first purpose-built aerotropolis, Dubai World Central (DWC) has recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Aircraft Support Industries (ASI), the Australian company that focuses on developing aircraft maintenance facilities, systems and equipment, to jointly provide customers with built-to-suit and related services in the design, development and construction of aircraft hangar and maintenance facilities at DWC\'s Aviation District.
As per the deal, DWC will supply the plots at the Aviation District where the aircraft maintenance facilities will be constructed, while ASI will offer design and construction services.
The two parties furthermore agreed to later pen a joint venture agreement that will specify the details and define the respective roles and tasks of DWC and ASI to implement and deliver the services.
\"Dubai World Central\'s MOU with Aircraft Support Industries is a strategically important move that reinforces our ability to provide fully integrated business solutions to our clients. This partnership consolidates DWC\'s core offerings by giving us direct access to world-class expertise and technology that will help fast track development of state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance facilities and equipment within DWC\'s Aviation District. A first-of-its-kind aerotropolis in the Middle East, DWC is a strategic initiative of Dubai Government that serves as a one-stop destination for all aviation-related businesses and a platform for global companies to strengthen their foothold in the MENASA region. Having built a proven global track record in aircraft maintenance for over two decades, ASI will play a crucial role in realizing the vision of DWC and cementing the reputation of the Aviation District as the ideal regional headquarters for leading companies in the global aviation industry,\" said Rashed Bu Qara\'a, Chief Operating Officer, Dubai Aviation City Corporation.
ASI is globally known for its expertise in the design and construction of aircraft hangars and maintenance facilities servicing the global Maintenance, Repairs and Operations (MRO) and Fixed Base Operators (FBO) market.
