United Kingdom : ROYAL MAIL wins back BRITISH GAS deal
Publish Date : 12-Feb-2013
Royal Mail has won back the British Gas deal to gather, sort and deliver statements to customers. This is the key business mail contract that comes back to Royal Mail since a new regulatory framework was set by Ofcom last year.
Royal Mail lost the contract, in 2007, then worth Å23m per year, to TNT Post. Won through a competitive tender, the contract would start in spring this year.
Royal Mail has also secured a five-year deal to deliver Smart Meters to British Gas engineers across Britain.
Additionally, Royal Mail\'s contract to deliver service and repair parts overnight to British Gas engineers to help them in implementing next-day maintenance has been extended for a further five years to 2018.
British Gas\'s managing director procurement and supply chain, Rob Morton, said : \'British Gas are pleased to award these contracts to Royal Mail. We both care passionately about providing excellent customer service, and have worked together for many years. We’ve set Royal Mail challenging objectives to ensure our customers get the best service and value, and look forward to working with them in the coming years.\'
Royal Mail\'s chief customer officer, Mike Newnham, said : \'In a competitive postal market, Royal Mail’s reputation, competitiveness and strength of account management were instrumental in securing this contract win.\'
