Ukraine and the European Commission are going to develop cooperation in the Black Sea region. Now, the possibilities of joint projects in the Black Sea are being studied. This was discussed during the meeting of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov with EU Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Maria Damanaki.

\"Ukraine is a maritime state, so for us it is very important to develop cooperation with the European Union in the Black Sea region,\" Mykola Azarov said, adding that our country is ready to participate in the implementation of an integrated maritime policy of the European Union.

According to him, Ukraine is interested in cooperation with the EU on a range of issues: the conservation of fish stocks, cleaning the sea, the development of infrastructure and so on. \"This cooperation is especially significant now, when we started to develop the Black Sea shelf,\" Mykola Azarov added.

The Prime Minister emphasized that besides marine infrastructure, Ukraine has a well-developed research facilities, which may be interesting to the European Commission.

The PM said: Ukraine closely monitor the work of the EU for fighting illegal fishing. According to him, Ukraine adheres to the principles of international economic activities related to the use of marine resources. \"So it is important for us to decide the issue of the notification of the Certificate by the European Union, which is issued by the authorized bodies of Ukraine, on the implementation of the fishing activity. It\'s not just about exporting from the customs territory of Ukraine of the Ukrainian origin products to the EU, the volume of which is quite small. But it is, above all, on the supplying of products, which are caught by vessels flying the flag of Ukraine,\" Mykola Azarov said.

At the same time, the Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine is fully committed to European integration. \"We are preparing for summit in Vilnius in November, where should be signed the Association Agreement with the EU. Given the importance of European integration, I took under personal control the coordination of the work of the Government,\" Mykola Azarov said, adding that within one week he meets with the second EU Commissioner.

In addition, the Prime Minister informed the EU Commissioner that on February 13 at the Government meeting was adopted a plan of priority actions for the integration of Ukraine into the European Union in 2013.
