Spain,United States : Aricent Collaborates with Emerson Network Power to Develop Application-ready LTE Core Network Platform

Publish Date : 26-Feb-2013

The Aricent group, a leading global innovation and technology services company, today announced that it has collaborated with Emerson Network Power to provide application-ready computing platforms for 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. The pre integrated solution which features Aricent’s innovative Evolved Packet Core ‘EPC lite’ software framework on Emerson Network Power’s AdvancedTCA (ATCA) hardware enables network equipment providers and system integrators simplify and accelerate the development and deployment of cost-effective 4G LTE networks.

As a natural upgrade path from the variety of existing 3G networks, LTE is anticipated to become the first truly global universal mobile phone network standard. According to a leading analyst, LTE is expected to grow at a rate of 90 percent (CAGR) over the next five years. LTE also provides an ideal solution for markets that need customized, low footprint solutions that can provide robust coverage and connectivity at low cost.

At the Mobile World Congress exhibition in Barcelona (February 25 - 28, 2013) in Hospitality Suite 2B104 in Hall 2, Aricent will demonstrate an end-to-end LTE environment including the integrated EPC solution featuring Emerson Network Power’s Centellis™ 2000 ATCA system and ATCA server blades.

“We are extremely pleased to work with Emerson Network Power to bring this highly innovative solution to the market,” said Pratyush Dasgupta, vice president and head of wireless practice at Aricent. “The solution will enable network equipment vendors to quickly develop and easily penetrate niche markets, which require differentiated low footprint solutions.”

“As the number one provider of AdvancedTCA technology, Emerson is continually looking for innovative solutions that help customers get to market faster, more cost-effectively and with lower risk,” said Brian Brown, vice president of marketing and services, Embedded Computing, Emerson Network Power. “Aricent’s EPC lite software is an example where a level of pre-integration with our ATCA platforms can help telecom equipment manufacturers gain a competitive advantage as they develop next generation LTE core offerings.”

Aricent EPC Lite framework is an all-software implementation of the LTE Mobility Management Entity (MME), Serving Gateway, Packet Data Network Gateway (PDN GW), Home Subscriber Server (HSS) and Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) components with complete flexibility to run all or any of these components in any permutation or combination on the same or different physical nodes.
