An announcement is made by Buckeye Partners, L.P., about a multi-million dollar contract which is bagged by them for the fabrication of two large piping manifolds to Quality Services Limited (QSL), Freeport, Grand Bahama.
The Work in this contract includes fabrication of structural steel, mechanical piping, and electrical wiring to be assembled and shipped in six modules totaling over 11,000 square feet, as an integral part of the modernization of Buckeye\'s Perth Amboy, New Jersey, USA terminal facility.
An critical milestone is achieved by acquisition of this contract, which is home to one of the few fabrication facilities in the region with the size and capabilities to compete on an international project of this scale.
\"Buckeye Partners and QSL have worked together extensively on the expansion of the BORCO facility over the past two years,\" said Joseph Sauger, Buckeye\'s Senior Vice President, Engineering and Construction.
\"The favorable working relationship as well as QSL\'s accessibility to barge docking were key factors in our decision to award this contract to QSL. This is the first time Buckeye has awarded a major contract for a domestic United States facility to an overseas contractor.\"

With the expansion of the BORCO terminal winding down we have had to steadily downscale, but the award of this contract enables us to retain many of our employees that have been trained during the expansion as well as search for new skilled.
180 persons in Freeport is the employed by company and is spending over $200 million in connection with its current expansion in the Bahamas. Bahamian contractors are playing a significant role in the expansion project.
