Bahrain : KVA220 Electric Power Plant INAUGURATED

The Minister of State for Electricity and Water Affairs Dr. Abdul-Hussein bin Ali Mirza and the Minister of Housing, Mr. Basem bin Yagoub Al-Hammer inaugurated a KVA220 Electric Power Plant in the Northern City. On the occasion, the Minister toured the Plant\'s sections and was briefed by the Vice Executive President for Planning and Projects, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Bu Rashid on the plant\'s potentials and capacity.

Dr. Abdul-Hussein bin Ali Mirza said that the inauguration of this power plant was \"a perfect example of good coordination between the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) and the Ministry of Housing as the facilities become ready ahead of housing projects and as another addition to the accomplishments made by our wise Government in supporting urban, residential and investment projects in the Northern City.\"

He added \"we highly appreciate the unlimited support from the Government of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the projects of the Electricity and Water Authority presided over by HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister with support and assistance from HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, citing the Government\'s support and pledging all potentials to such projects which boost infrastructure and development all over the Kingdom.\"

This power plant supplies housing projects in the Northern City and future projects with electricity and feeds KVA220 from Al-Jasra Plant. The total construction cost is BD 22 million.

Ministry of Housing Undersecretary Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, EWA\'s deputy CEO engineer Adnan Mohammed Fakhro, the Governor of the Northern Governorate Mr. Ali Al-Asfoor and a number of officials from the EWA and the Ministry of Housing attended the inaugural ceremony.
