Japan : WORLD BANK appoints KEIKO HONDA - new Head of MIGA

The World Bank Group has announced the appointment of Keiko Honda, a Japanese national, to head its Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). The World Bank has appointed Ms Honda from McKinsey and Co where she was a Director. Keiko will even serve as an Executive Vice President of the World Bank Group.
In a statement on March 27, 2013, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, said, “I am very pleased to have Keiko lead MIGA, where I am confident that she will continue to promote the important role MIGA plays in bringing in more foreign investments into the least served countries.”
Dr Kim stated that Ms Keiko joins the group with extensive experience within global organizations serving private as well as public sector, achieving a reputation as a leader in banking, corporate finance, and private equity.
Additionally, Honda has even served on various Japanese government committees which includes the Council of Regulatory Reform for Prime Minister Koizumi and many earlier administrations.
Keiko’s term would begin with the end of the term of existing MIGA Head, Izumi Kobayashi, in June 2013. Kobayashi had joined MIGA in November 2008.
Thanking Izumi Kobayashi for her contribution to the Group, the World Bank President said, “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our current MIGA Executive Vice President Izumi Kobayashi for her immense contributions and many achievements during her tenure.”
