Canada : KEYERA invests $210M in gas infrastucture

Publish Date : 11-Apr-2013

Calgary-based midstream natural gas firm Keyera Corp. is investing $120 million in a project to build a 90-kilometre, 12-inch sour gas collection pipeline in northwestern Alberta.

Keyera said the new pipeline will run from the Wapiti region to the firm's Simonette gas plant located northwest of Edson, Alta.

The project's construction is scheduled for launch in the fall of 2013, and would enter service by Q2-2014, subject to regulatory approvals.

The project is part of a long-term natural gas gathering and processing deal that Keyera has inked with NuVista Energy.

Keyera says it is also investing $90 million to modify its Simonette gas plant, which includes the adding of capacity for refrigeration and building new condensate stabilization facilities.

Keyera's President and chief operating officer, David Smith, said : "We are excited about this opportunity to extend the capture area and expand the capabilities of our Simonette gas plant to meet the needs of our customers."

He added: "These initiatives will provide cost-effective enhancements to our gathering, processing and liquids extraction services, to support continued development of the Montney zone in the area."
