On Saturday Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) has granted a contract to the state-owned firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for the establishment of its new 2x660 MW thermal power station, which forms a part of its expansion project in Jharsuguda district-based Banharipali.
The Managing Director of OPGC Venkatachalam Kuppusami has signed the deal for his organization, while BHEL General Manager (Marketing) V Venkatakrishnan put his initials for the Central PSU.
Under the newly signed agreement involving OPGC and BHEL, there will be development of captive coal mines and railway transportation system.
Out of the Rs 4051 crore worth of contracted works, the overall cost of supply of Main Plant (Boiler, Turbine and Generator) will be Rs 3748.94, while the construction of Main Plant will require an expenditure of Rs 302.06 crore. The authorities are having assessment for the pact meant for the residual auxiliary and peripheral facilities to the Main Plant.
The expansion project of OPGC had obtained financial affiliation in last November. There are expectations that the facility will be ready to start operations during the 12th Plan period.
