Publish Date : 03-May-2013

With the acquisition of Atelier Dreiseitl, Ramboll Group strengthens its position within sustainable cities.

With 80 experts working in offices in Singapore, Beijing, and Überlingen in southern Germany, Atelier Dreiseitl is behind some of the world's most innovative urban water projects. These include the waterscape on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin; the water strategy for the entire city of Singapore, as well as the design of the 60 ha large Bishan Ang Mo Kio Park; and the blue and green features in the Tianjin Cultural Park near Beijing. The innovative use of water in sustainable solutions for cityscapes is a hallmark of Dreiseitl's work.

Sustainability and green city solutions

The acquisition of Atelier Dreiseitl strengthens Ramboll's position within sustainable cities by adding world class expertise and geographical reach. Over the years, Ramboll has been deeply involved with the development of sustainable solutions for the Nordic capitals. Today, these cities stand out as global beacons in the areas of sustainability and green city solutions.

"It is important for us to take advantage of our vast experience with sustainable city development in the Nordics to gain a similar position in some of the major cities worldwide. These cities include Asian megacities such as Beijing and Singapore. Ramboll and Atelier Dreiseitl complement each other very well, and I see exciting possibilities in our future cooperation," said Jens-Peter Saul, CEO of the Ramboll Group.

Addressing the worlds megatrends

Atelier Dreiseitl was founded by Herbert Dreiseitl, an internationally renowned entrepreneur and thought leader within urban water and landscape planning.

Herbert Dreiseitl said: "It makes infinite sense for us to join Ramboll. In order to address today's megatrends and challenges, we have to take a holistic approach and share our competencies. Technical solutions coupled with aesthetics and good design, as well as a strong social component, give our solutions a deeper meaning, make them longer-lasting, and more easily accepted. By merging with Ramboll, we hope to provide our customers with the best integrated, sustainable and most holistic solutions."

As part of the integration of Atelier Dreiseitl with Ramboll, Herbert Dreiseitl will be responsible for the Sustainable Cities programme in the Ramboll Group. The day-to-day management of staff and projects in Atelier Dreiseitl will be continued by the two senior partners, Dieter Grau and Gerhard Hauber.
