India : GIL implements three BOOT hydel projects in SIKKIM

An agreement had been inked between Gati Infrastructure (GIL), an of Amrit Jal Ventures (AJVL) and the state government of Sikkim to execute three hydel projects on a build, operate, own and transfer (BOOT) basis.

GIL said the first project, through 10 megawatts (MW) Chuzachen Hydro Project has been commissioned and has begun generating and selling power. This is the first IPP (independent power project) in the hydropower industry in Sikkim and the seven sisters of North East.

The facility is directly liked with the National Grid through a 24 KM dedicated distribution line and will be able to provide energy across India.

AJVL is executing two more hydel projects in the state, a 54 MW Bhasmey hydropower project, which is undeway, and 71 MW Sada Mangder project.

GIL, Founder and CEO, Mahendra Agarwal said, "The commissioning of the hydro power project is a big milestone in the history of the Gati Group.
