Publish Date : 07-May-2013

An agreement was signed between Yemen and World Bank on granting an extra financing aid of $25 million to the Social Fund for Development (SFD).

The amount will go towards supporting the fourth phase of the SFD's project which aims at offering 4-month jobs for over 5,000 people with a monthly salary of around $400.

Signing of the deal was carried out by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed Al Sa'adi, SFD's Acting Dxecutive Director Abdullah Al Dailami and World Bank Country Director for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti Hartwig Schafer.

Al Sa'adi commended the World Bank's contributions towards supporting the stability and development initiative in Yemen.

According to him, during this May, the government and the Bank are arranging for a high-ranking consultative meeting between Yemen and donors.

The World Bank's grant is designed to enhance the performance level of the SFD's intensive work programme in Yemen, said Schafer.
