United States : IDB to give 3 MILLION DOLLARS for Technical Cooperation Project

A 3 million dollars technical cooperation project will be backed up by the Inter-American Development Bank to aid the government of Haiti test different renewable energy solutions with the goal of expanding rural electrification.
The lowest level of electrification is having the Haiti in the Americas.
70% of the population misses the access to electricity in the countryside.
Feasibility studies and pilot projects to test models grounded on solar energy, sustainable biomass, and hybrid approaches combining more efficient uses of fossil fuels with renewable energy sources, will be financed by the new project.
It will also be funded by the technical cooperation, studies to find out the feasibility of introducing natural gas in Haiti, which relies heavily on imports of more expensive and polluting fossil fuels to generate electricity.
The Haitian government will be aided by the project in establishing an office for rural electrification and in formulating regulations to elevate the use of cleaner energy resources and energy efficiency for rural electrification.
The Haiti Reconstruction Fund, the IDB's Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Initiative and the IDB-administered Korea Fund for Technology and Innovation, will give the resources for this technical cooperation.
