Gabon,Myanmar : KCA DEUTAG inks two offshore deals for work in SEA and GABON

Publish Date : 25-Jun-2013

Global drilling contractor, KCA Deutag has inked two offshore deals with new clients for projects in South East Asia (SEA) and Gabon.

These contracts further represent the company's ongoing effort to expand its foothold in the global offshore shallow water market.

The initial deal is a two year operating and maintenance drilling services agreement for the Myanmar-based Shwe Platform with Daewoo International Corporation.

The second one is with Tullow Oil Gabon SA, for the supply of KCA Deutag's jack-up rig, the Ben Rinnes. The project, which involves the drilling of two wells, with the option for another well will be launched in the next month and last for 80 days.

President of Offshore at KCA Deutag, Rune Lorentzen, stated : 'The West African market continues to be a major hub of activity for the oil and gas industry, and one where we have an established presence. Establishing new relationships in countries such as Gabon demonstrates how vibrant this area continues to be. South East Asia is an area where we have developed a strong and continually growing presence. This contract with Daewoo International Corporation is our second contract in Myanmar and strengthens our position in the region. With existing projects underway, and a number of further opportunities identified, we are in a good position to continue to develop KCA Deutag in an emerging market which offers extensive oil and gas potential.'
