A long-term contract is given to Kuwaiti logistics firm Agility and H.Essers' Pharma Logistics division as the preferred logistics service providers handling an integrated Control Tower operation for Actavis.
Actavis, Inc. is a worldwide, integrated specialty pharmaceutical company motivated on developing, manufacturing and distributing generic, brand and biosimilar products.
Through a single, strategic platform and a unified data set the Control Tower gives Actavis with full visibility of its global freight movements. The freight management solution raises perceptibility on the physical, information and financial flows, delivering improved cost productivity and supply chain GDP-compliance for Actavis.
The combined team will be established in Agility's Bristol branch in the UK, and H.Essers' HQs in Genk, Belgium. Collectively, they will accomplish Actavis' European and global freight movements across air, ocean and road.
Stephan Dülk, Agility's VP, Life Science, Europe said, "We are proud to have been awarded this contract with Actavis".
He added "It underlines how innovative technology can super-charge the management of pharmaceutical supply chains while delivering intelligence that helps our customers make smart business decisions. It also further strengthens Agility's position as a leading logistics provider in the pharmaceutical industry."
Whereas Valgeir Petursson, executive director, Logistics - International Operations, at Actavis, added: "We are already seeing extremely positive results from the Control Tower and regard this as potentially the biggest logistic improvement for Actavis. One of the biggest advantages of the tool is the tracking function that allows our logistic teams and commercial organization to constantly be up to date on each shipment. Along with the obvious time savings due to the easy access of the information, the tool greatly enhances and automates our alert management."
Ralf Schneider, Business Unit Manager Pharma, said, "H.Essers is very pleased about the contract awarded by Actavis as it confirms the long-term commitment between all three parties involved. This cooperation acts as the basis for the full IT integration, offering Actavis the service and visibility that is essential in today's supply chain. Besides that, H.Essers can guarantee the highest standards set in Europe. Actavis' geographical spread (production, packaging, etc.) matches perfectly with H.Essers' presence while the additional volumes generated by the contract will allow further optimisation and expansion of the GDP compliant network reducing transit times and costs even more."
