China : PUNJAB government and a Chinese company inks MoU for solar energy project in Cholistan

To establish a solar power project MoU is signed between the Punjab government and a Chinese company, Norinco International Corporation Limited.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that nothing can be more important than a solution to the energy crisis and the nation will be rid of load shedding through speedy completion of power generation projects.

The document was signed by the Secretary Energy Usman Bajwa and Vice-President Norinco International Zhang Shiping. As per the agreement, the Norinco International will establish a 300 megawatt solar power project in Cholistan to be accomplished in 12 months.

The Punjab government will help Norinco International in recognizing the site for the solar power plant in Cholistan.

Shahbaz praised the cooperation of the Chinese government and investors in the energy sector. He said the agreement with Norinco International for solar power project augured well and the project would be accomplished expeditiously.

Norinco International Vice-President Zhang Shiping said that the Chinese people were extremely overwhelmed with the speed of Shahbaz Sharif regarding execution of development projects and he was very much loved in China.

Provincial Minister for Energy Sher Ali Khan, Special Assistant Arshad Jutt, the chief secretary, chairman NEPRA, chairman Planning & Development, secretary energy and others were also present.

The CM in a meeting stated that the electricity scarcity would be saloved at any cost.

He said the energy crisis had made life of the people miserable and all-out measures were being taken to resolve the issue. He said that if the departments concerned did not fulfill their responsibilities towards resolving energy problem, they would never be forgiven by the nation.

The chief minister said solution to energy problem was the top priority of the government as it was essential for putting the economy on the right track. He said that the departments concerned should discharge their responsibilities in an efficient manner and no negligence should be shown in this regard.
