Iraq : Iran Inviting Int. Oil Companies to Oil Industry Projects

Publish Date : 29-Aug-2013

Petroleum ministry's deputy for international and commercial affairs Mansour Moazzami said the ministry plans to move toward expanding cooperation in international arena in order to maximize its benefits from the existing potentials in the world.

Speaking to Shana, he said that oil industry was a multi-prong industry and for instance is responsible for revenues.

He continued Iran's new president, Hassan Rouhani has chosen a new approach toward international issues and his positions on world issues are new which in turn have changed world attitude toward our country.

We should wait to see the practical consequences of this new approach, Moazzami said.

He stated: instead of seeking zero sum game theory in international relations we should pursue a win-win game, the official said adding we are seeking to maximize our national interests' gains so wherever we could to meet the national interests in the best, depending on circumstances, we are the winner.

The petroleum ministry official noted that pursuing national interests was a general rule in international tradition that should be taken into account.

This new international oriented approach will open a new chapter in the oil industry relations with international community, he said adding we should welcome those foreign oil companies that were engaged in Iran's oil industry activities, therefore well known oil companies in the world would be invited for negotiations and investment in Iran's oil industry based on mutual interests.

On the impact of sanctions on Iran's oil industry, Moazzami said that international sanctions, which were worst, shameful and cruelest in its nature, have made some problems for the people.

He noted that the sanctions have also created some problems for our partners because many of them dislike existing situation prevailing in oil industry and that is why they are too expected to help to creating a realistic space for the governments and international organizations.

"We are trying to mitigate the impact of sanctions on the people because these behaviors not only are not acceptable by Iran but by the majority of countries in the world", Moazzami said.

"We don't accept forceful rhetoric and irrational behaviors and will try to provide a situation for better use of potentials in the world arena through moving toward negotiations and providing more space for cooperation."
