United Kingdom : Lovell awarded L1.1m of housing improvement work for Thenue in Glasgow

Publish Date : 30-Aug-2013

Affordable housing specialist Lovell has been awarded two new contracts to carry out major improvement work worth a total of L1.1 million to homes in Bridgeton, Glasgow, for Thenue Housing Association.

Lovell is installing new kitchens and bathrooms at 62 flats in Madras Street and Mill Street as well as carrying out electrical rewiring and other upgrading in a 20-week refurbishment programme.

The other new contract involves repairs and improvements to 65 flats and terraced houses at Dalmarnock Road, Queen Mary Street and Fairbairn Path. The 15-week scheme includes the installation of cavity insulation, new kitchen fittings and sanitary ware as well as the fitting of new external doors, new gutters, smoke detectors and bathroom extractor fans.

Lovell will have a specialist resident liaison officer working with residents at both projects to act as their main point of contact and help ensure that the improvement work goes ahead smoothly.

The contracts were awarded to Lovell following a ‘mini competition' between Thenue's four framework contractors. Lovell recently successfully completed a housing improvement programme for 98 homes in Bridgeton for Thenue, carrying out work including the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms, new doors and replacement extractor fans.

Lovell regional director Alan Taylor says: "We are delighted to be working again with Thenue to help deliver these high-quality housing improvements for tenants. Our team is very experienced in undertaking refurbishment and repair programmes, working to the highest of standards with the emphasis on customer satisfaction."
