On Saturday, the developer and operator of the UAEs national railway network, Etihad Rail, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with National Air Cargo, a leading freight solutions provider specialising in multimodal sea-to-air transportation.

As per the deal, National Air Cargo will be incorporating rail transport into its offerings in order to address the requirements of its clients in the UAE and in Gulf markets through Etihad Rails connection to the GCC-wide railway network.

The MoU was signed by Etihad Rail chief executive officer Dr Nasser Al Mansoori and Jacob Mathew, president for Asia and board member of National Air Cargo.

Main aim of this MoU is to facilitate the diversification of various business solutions available to the customers of National Air Cargo, with freight-forwarding capabilities to feature a combination of sea, air and rail transport.

Dr Al Mansoori said, "The MoU... will enable businesses to meet the needs of this changing market, allowing them to remain competitive through tailored freight solutions."
