Japan: Japanese Hitachi invests USD 10 million in Tuzla

The Japan-based broadcast, video and communications equipment manufacturer and seller, Hitachi Kokusai Electric, invests in Turkey. Having established “Hitachi Kokusai Turkey" -- its Turkish subsidiary -- in June, the company is now getting ready to invest USD 10 million in Istanbul’s industrial Tuzla district.
Following its preference for Turkey as a production hub, Hitachi Kokusai Electric will penetrate into markets in the Middle East and Turkic republics. Hitachi Kokusai Electric CEO Manabu Shinomoto said the company employs 300,000 people globally and generates turnover of USD 90 billion. Shinomoto said they picked Istanbul due to its central location, and added, “In the first phase, we are planning to expand our broadcasting business in Turkey.” Meanwhile, according to Hitachi Kokusai Turkey’s General Manager, Cemal Yilmaz, the facilities in Tuzla will expand over 8,000 square meters of land, and will focus on the production of antennas and telecommunication equipment. Yilmaz said the investment will have a total value of USD 10 million, and that they plan to commence production over the next 4-5 months.
