Argentina,Germany : SCHMID GROUP to establish 70MW integrated module plant in ARGENTINA
Publish Date : 08-Oct-2013
Schmid Group declared that it has entered into a contract with Energia Provincial Sociedad del Estado (EPSE) to build a 70MW, fully integrated monocrystalline PV module manufacturing plant in the Argentinean province of San Juan.
Following an intensive and detailed planning phase, which has already completed, the company as the general contractor will construct the facility along with ancillary infrastructure.
It is stated that the fully integrated plant will be optimized to produce high-efficiency solar cells at a low cost of ownership (CoO), which includes the selection of Schmid's 'TinPad' system that utilizes tin instead of silver for rear side solar cell contacts.
In a second phase, the monocrystalline silicon ingot to module production plant would include a polysilicon plant.
It is estimated that the modules from the new facility will initially be used to provide electricity for gold and copper mines in the San Juan provinces as well as for artificial irrigation in arid regions.
The company has not revealed the financial details and project timelines.
