Publish Date : 22-Oct-2013

Aegean Airlines has recently inked new code-share agreement with Egyptair, with effect from 27th of October 2013.

This agreement comes considering Egyptair's strategy to expand its network globally and to boost its existence in Greece.

"Signing this important agreement with Aegean Airlines aims mainly at encouraging the incoming tourism traffic from Europe into Egypt's top leisure destinations especially that Egyptair is working on activating more code share agreements with the world's top airlines, in addition to operating new routes and increasing frequencies on a number of routes with increasing load factors in order to encourage traffic via Cairo Airport, the northern gateway to the Middle East and Africa," said Capt Hossam Kamal, Egyptair Holding Chairman and CEO.

Egyptair clients will benefit from more travel options to fly between Egypt and Greece, as the clients will be able to fly from Athens to Salonika, Rodhos – Heraklion and Chania.

Conversely, Aegean Airlines clients will be able to fly on Egyptair flights between Cairo / Athens and between Alexandria / Athens.

Hossam Kamal said: "The cooperation with Aegean Airlines will not only enhance Egyptair's network worldwide, but also enhance traffic on Egypt's domestic destinations through increasing frequencies and traffic on these destinations, especially Cairo, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Luxor and Aswan."

Dimitris Gerogiannis Aegean Airlines Managing Director said: "We are happy to expand our network in Eastern Mediterranean through the code-share agreement with EGYPTAIR and offer our customers of the two countries access to multiple domestic and international connections via Athens, Cairo and Alexandria."

Egyptair Express offers two weekly flights from Alexandria to Athens and Egyptair offers 10 weekly flights from Cairo to Athens.
