United Kingdom : SWANSWAY GROUP acquires car dealership in CHESTER
Publish Date : 05-Nov-2013
Swansway Group, based Crewe, has bought a car dealership in Chester.
The firm has acquired Hartwell Citroen and Fiat in Chester which brings the number of brands it sells to nine.
Already operating the Peugeot franchise in the city, Swansway was approached by the PSA Group to run the Citreon franchise which operates on a dual site with Fiat. It plans to move the site to a place nearer to its Peugeot site on Sealand Road.
Dealer principal of the Peugeot base, Andrew Wakelin will assume the role of operations director across the sites.
"We were approached by PSA regarding the site in Chester; they had been impressed by the performance of our Swansway Peugeot, Chester centre, which has become a top performer for the brand, despite starting up only three years ago with no database," said Peter Smyth, a director of the Swansway Group. "We could immediately see the synergy of operating these brands in harmony, in the same city, with their shared processes and procedures and the proximity of the existing site to our own Peugeot centre; the franchise was operated in tandem with Fiat who very kindly agreed to our acquisition."
With the newest purchase Swansway Group now has 17 dealerships site from Preston down to Birmingham.
