UNITED STATES : Rolls-Royce received $476.91m contract

The Derby-based Rolls-Royce has received a contract worth $476.91m.

The contract is to supply engines which will power the training aircraft\'s of US navy. The company will be developing the F405 (Adour) engines for the US Department of Defense Naval Air Systems Command.

The contract is for a period of five years, which accounts for $99.9m each year. Within the contract period, Rolls-Royce will deliver services to over 200 aircraft. It will be responsible for providing all maintenance, support, troubleshooting, parts and logistics for the F405 engine as well as the aircraft gas turbine starting system.

The company is expected to complete the work on the aircraft in September 2012.

Patricia O\'Connell, Rolls-Royce president of customer business defence said, “We are proud of our continued partnership with the US navy and its mission to prepare student aviators for jet carrier aviation and tactical strike missions. We look forward to another successful year of providing the best engine readiness and availability”.
