Iran Islamic Republic of : IRAN launches first wind power farm in TAKISTAN, plans two other such farms

Iran has announced launch of its first wind power farm in Takistan, Qazvin province. Further, it has plans to launch two other such farms in Khorassan and Sistan and Balouchestan provinces.

Homayoun Haeri, the Managing Director of Iran Power Generation Transmission & Distribution Management Company (TAVANIR) stressed on projects to construct new wind power farms in the country. He said, "Each such wind power (plant) is capable of generating 350 MWH of clean and renewable energy. Three new agreements will be signed for reconstruction of wind farms in Qazvin, Khwaf in Khorassan province, and Sistan and Balouchestan province."

"In line with the policy to improve power generation capacities, the first 2.5 MWH installed wind turbine in Kahak Wind Farm in Takestan, Qazvin, has joined the national power network and was launched officially."

Converting 16,000 MW of power generation capacity of natural gas plants to combined cycle plants is considered to be among one of the alternative to improve the country’s power generation capacity along with wind power farms.

He said, "With implementation of the project, about 8,000 MW of electricity will be added."
